This barbaric slaughter needs to end, and end now! Not just in the Faroe Islands and Taiji, but the whole world over. No country should want to be involved in this kind of cruelty. The more people stand up and say this is not acceptable, the quicker we can all help to stop these poor beautiful animals from suffering at the hands of man.

To: The Truth:

You say you're from the Faroe Islands. I believe that, but the rest is pure bollocks! I've seen it myself, so don't sit there and lie. They only get one occasionally when one comes close to shore huh? THEN HOW THE F*** DID THEY MANAGE TO KILL 350 PILOT WHALES IN 2 DAYS LAST WEEK?

The powerboats, everything from small skiffs to large commercial boats, and even jet skis, many of them, literally SWARMS of them, herded the Pilot Whales into a cove and drove them to shore... scores of them at a time. STOP THE LYING.

It doesn't matter to me one bit if you eat them or just leave them to rot. THEY ARE JUST AS DEAD EITHER WAY, and you do NOT need to eat them to survive!

The Faroe Islands isn't some remote 3rd world country. It's a thoroughly modern European style place. They even gain money from the EU thorugh Denmark.. but they are not an EU nation. This slaughter is illegal within the EU.

I say we move that they get no more money, not one bit, until the Grind stops completely.

Hello, I'm from the Faroe Islands so I should know the facts. The meat isn't left to rot. It's shared with everyone who was in that drive.
The pictures may look very brutally because of the blood, but the truth is different. They're driven onto land very the spinal nerve will be cut. This makes the whale die within few seconds because no blood reaches the brain. This, of course, colors the sea red. If the whales are on deep water, we'll have to haul them to low water with a hook which's placed into the blowhole. The whales are neither killed with hooks nor axes as someone claims. Mainly, the things you've read isn't true. Teenagers don't kill the whales to become men. The whales are killed because of the blubber and of the meat. Maybe their meat is poisonous with mercury. Mercury isn't the dangerous part, there are more dangerous stuff in the meat than mercury as PCB. But we don't hunt them, when we're hungry. When the whales swim close to land, we drive them to the beach, where they will be unbrutally killed. That means, that we only eat pilot whales a few days in the year. And when the meat is eaten so seldomly, it's not dangerous. Check the page: www.whaling.fo to control your facts.
So please concentrate on the pigs, cattle, chickens, etc. which are killed brutally. The main difference between the Faroese whaling and the slaughtering of animals in slaughter houses is that the killings in slaughter houses isn't visible. That's why the farmers can do just as they want with the animals without anyone seeing it. The animals live in cages so small that they can't even stand. So please concider where the meat is coming from which you can find in the stores. It doesn't appear there automatically....

I totally agree with the Sea Shepherds views. I disapprove of their more violent tactics, however. Due to the lack of a free press in many countries, including Japan, the citizens there will only see the whalers' point of view. They will not see the protestors point of view. Monkey wrenching, also known as ecoterrorism tends to make good causes look bad. Merely making a presence around whaling fleets and giving bad press to whalers will accomplish far more than ramming a whaling ship or sinking a whaling vessel while at anchor. Calling for a boycott of goods produced in countries which practice bad environmentalism will spur far more action from those countries governments to stop the bad practices. I read recently that seventy percent of Japanese citizens are against whaling. Lets enlist their help through proper, non violent protest.

Even if the Faroe Islands are autonomous, they are still Danish Faroe. As you said, Kristian and danish-girl, the Faroe have Denmark nationality and politically protected by the Demark government. According to you, the Faroe Islands look to be a super-class group: they are protected by the Denmark government and don't take responsibilites - Denmark can’t intervene without abolishing the Faroese autonomy. Am I reading your words correctly?

If they haven’t got much to live off other than the sea, if they are as poor as that, the Faroe don't accept food from the Denmark government? Or, they must live on whale and dalphin, not bread or fish?

Hillary said "The fact is this is not happening to feed the population. Most are left on the beach to rot. " Is that true?

Why point fingers on Denmark? Learn your geography right before even point out a finger.
Wanna see real slaughtering? Look at Israel-Palestine or USA-Iraq. You people comparing this to Hitler, why not compare to the recent ones?

p/s. I've seen worse in China :D

It's dumbfounding that it took them so long to make the headway they have. BP you're really shown how your company is run. It is really hard to believe how a major cooperation like BP could be so incompetent. They have been doing this for over a 100 years! The only good thing from this whole experience is that it shows we give companies like them too much credit. Sad, very sad. The worst part of the whole situation is that is that so many people have had their livelihood pulled out from under their feet.

Clearly, the goverments of these various countries are not going to stop the Japanese from these crimes against nature. The Japanese don't care that it took 100s of millions of years for whales to evolve. They don't care that they are endangered and that in just a few hundred years, mankind has brought them to the brink of extinction. The story repeats itself in every aspect of the animal and plant kingdom imaginable. We don't deserve to survive as a species, and we will not. We are bringing about our own demise. The creatures of this beautiful planet are in harmony with the universe. They are plugged in; we are not. Let's face it, there are simply not enough 'enlightened' people in positions of power to reverse the course.

Pete Bethune is a hero and the Sea Shepherds did a great job of getting him released from Japanese authorities. It's time that those of us who care, channel the funds necessary to equip these warriors properly. Two ships and a helicopter is not enough to win this war. These efforts go beyond saving marine life. All crimes against nature are ultimately crimes against mankind. If we, as a species, continue being shortsighted; we will cease to exist. The Earth will recover and I believe the whales should be there.
